Learn more about OBOB at Buena Vista here (sign up, volunteer, and more)!

Oregon Battle of the Books is a reading/trivia competition that takes place at our school and potentially state wide if students do well. Incoming 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are eligible to participate. We’ll have our first school battles in February so there’s plenty of time to get reading! Each branch of the Eugene Library has a TON of OBOB books available to check out and each 4J student is able to get a library card

A few tips

  • Get your team together and decide which books each team member should read. 4 students can compete at a time so teams of 4 or 5 are a good idea. With a book list of 16, each student should commit to reading 4. If students would like to read more, that’s fantastic!

  • Read your books! It’s a good idea to read once to get an overall feel and read a second time for details, making notes to refer to later and study. Look at character names, story details, locations and author names.

OBOB is a trivia competition and the more you know about your books the better!

Reading OBOB books is a great way to earn minutes toward the Summer Read-a-thon and Summer reading challenge!
